Holiness: Questions for Discussion

To start off our series on holiness, we broke up into groups at our Sunday night gathering and talked through these ten questions:

1. What is the first thing you think of when you hear the word "holy"?

2. Do you believe living a lifestyle of holiness is practical? Why or why not?

3. Has there been someone in your life that you would describe as a very holy person? Be real; give eamples of why this person, for you, exhibited holiness.

4. What criteria would you use in determining whether or not someone or something is holy?

5. What implications do you feel Hebrews 12.14 has on mankind? {Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.}

6. Do you have a desire for personal holiness? Off the top your head, what would have to change to move in the direction of personal holiness?

7. Does God require holiness?

8. Does religion help in the area of holiness?

9. By pursuing holiness, what do we have to gain? Should we be asking this question?

10. 2 Corinthians 7.1 says: Since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God. Does this attract you to Jesus or leave you with a sense of hopelessness?
