Week of Prayer: Answered Prayer

Week of Prayer 2011

“The gospel beckons us to die to ourselves and to believe in God and to trust in his power. In the gospel, God confronts us with our utter inability to accomplish anything of value apart from him.”
-David Platt

God hears our prayers and answers us according to His plan and His will. We do not pray in vain. As we seek Him, he answers us with great and unsearchable things about Himself that we do not know. (Jeremiah 33:3)

Take time to read through answers to prayer we as a body have received from our God throughout this year. Let it encourage your heart to pray and believe. Let it inspire you to continue to ask God for big things for yourself, our church, and His work among the nations. But mostly, let these answers propel your heart and overwhelm your soul into rich worship of our God who hears us and answers our petitions to Him.

Last year during the Friday night prayer time during the week of prayer these words were shared:
• Don’t be limited by what we see, but dream big for our city for glory of God.
• Thank and praise Him for the future work He will do among us.
• Live with intentionality, out of our comfort zones with discernment.
• Open up corporate prayer in our church.

God used the imagery of cliff jumping in our church to give us bigger vision.

Through the teaching we received from James, Blessed are the Merciful, and Ruth, God grew our desire and understanding to take care of those in distress.

Specifically, God used the book of James to radically change our thinking and understanding of living out the gospel.

Seeds Community Center was founded.

God is using Seeds at Howell Elementary School to show Himself to families through gardening, an after school program, and various projects. Eighteen families received Christmas gifts and a book with Luke 2 in the Message translation.

God raised up leaders for Seeds, and continues to refine and sharpen this leadership team.

We asked God for Jefferson Park Elementary school. The answer was no.

Several men in our church go out to bring food and conversation to homeless people in Tucson.

Community groups grew. Leaders stepped up. Groups multiplied.

God worked in the men concerning rescuing ambition during the retreat. He even gave them snow in which to run and play games.

There is a greater cohesiveness within the men of our church. More men than ever attended Men on Mountains. God continues to raise them up in strength and purpose.

Many women memorized scripture through 2011.

During Retreat de Moxie, women began to believe that their story was valuable and could be used by God to show Himself to others. Women began to pray for the gift and ability to share Jesus with others.

Another group of college students spent their summer in M3. They shared Christ and their friends responded. God changed lives in our students and the students they met on the other side of the world. Ten students in M3 accepted Christ.

God provided so many resources this year. Our budget was met again. Every student went on the summer trip. He provided a large year end gift for the Huxleys. 55 boxes were given to Operation Christmas Child. Seeds provided 18 families with gifts.

God led groups of men and women to meet consistently for prayer.

This year was full of cultivation. Do you remember Hosea 10:12? We started our week of prayer asking God to “break up our fallow ground.” There are tangible answers to our prayers, but much of His work over this last year is still in preparation for what is to come. Sometimes it seems so slow. Sometimes we wonder if we are making any difference in this world. But, we must trust and believe that as we seek Him and trust Him, we are sowing righteousness; reaping the fruit of His unfailing love; allowing Him to break up our fallow ground as we seek Him, so that He may come and rain His righteousness upon us. Stay the course in obedience, friends. Trust His plan and wait patiently as He works it out in His timing.

1 May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine upon us,
Selah
2 that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations.
3 May the peoples praise you, O God; may all the peoples praise you.
4 May the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you rule the peoples justly and guide the nations of the earth.
Selah
5 May the peoples praise you, O God; may all the peoples praise you.
6 Then the land will yield its harvest, and God, our God, will bless us.
7 God will bless us, and all the ends of the earth will fear him.
~ Psalm 67
