Community Life

*You may notice some very similar requests in this section from last year. This is intentional. There are consistent themes, attitudes, and goals that should always be at the very center of our prayers.

Community Groups
• Pray that the Community groups of Second Mile would actively live the truth of Hebrews 10:23-25.
• Pray for unity, depth, fun, authenticity, challenging conversation, and intentionality in each group.
• If you are in a community group, take time to evaluate how you make your group a better group. Ask the Spirit to search your heart and show you ways you can be a better member of your group, and pray for your leader. If you aren’t in a community group, ask God if you should be, and if the answer is yes, ask him to show you what groups to visit and possibly join.
• Pray that we would be a church that loves people and that community will be a fruit of that genuine love.
• Ask God to give each group ideas, action, and urgency to share Christ with those who don’t know him.
• Pray that as a result of genuine relationships community groups would experience incredible growth (Acts 2:47).
• Pray for healthy, vibrant, and consistent multiplication of each of our community groups.

Iron & Iron
• Pray for the ongoing development of maturity among the men of Second Mile. Ask God to equip men to fight against the cultural tendency of elongated adolescence.
• Intercede for the men of our church. Ask Jesus to create the strength of character that allows them to lead, protect, and provide.
• Ask the Spirit to protect our men from the assault of culture. Pray for purity, strength, humility, and a heart to serve. Pray Philippians 4:8-9 for the men of our church.
• Pray for a culture of investment. Pray that men would be intentional in developing deep and meaningful friendships with each other. Pray against pride.

Moxie
• Ask God to empower the women to experiencially know He clothes them with strength and dignity. (Proverbs 31:25)
• Pray for unity in relationships as Moxie grows from being event driven to relationship and group driven.
• Ask God to show the women of our church that security is found in Jesus alone.
• Pray against comparison, insecurity, apathy, and hopelessness among our women. Ask the Spirit to gird them up with feminine strength that can only be found in Jesus.
• Pray that each woman would have stamina and consistency in praying for relationships and opportunities to share Christ. Pray they would have the fortitude to continue to pray for the gift of evangelism.

College Students
• Ask God to give us post-college leaders to provide vision, direction, and leadership for our college ministry.
• Ask the Spirit to prompt students to get plugged in to the local church. Pray that this generation would actively participate in the health and growth of the church.
• Pray that God will continue to give many students vision for investing in Tucson through Second Mile post graduation, that they would use their vocation to prosper the city and share the love of Christ with many Tucsonans (Isaiah 29:4-14).

Youth & Children
• Pray that Jesus would draw the children of our church to himself, that they would grow as Christ-centered people which is counter to what they hear in our culture on a daily basis (Matthew 19:14).
• Pray that our kids would find their identity in Jesus Christ alone. Pray for the boys to grow up with masculinity that is full of strength, humility, and service which honors Jesus. Pray that the girls would grow into a femininity that is clothed in strength and dignity. Petition God on behalf of our kids that they would be influenced by his word and will and not by culture.
• Pray that they would grow strong, safe relationships with the adults of Second Mile who invest in them. Pray for parents to have wisdom and intentionality in teaching them to live Christ- centered lives.
• Ask God to teach the children to be clothed in the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-17).
• The children of our church also receive an age appropriate prayer guide with the same topics we are praying through. Ask God to strengthen their faith through this prayer time, that they would have tremendous insight as they pray, that they would continue to learn to rely on the Spirit as they pray (Ephesians 6:18).
