Week of Prayer: Wednesday

Home Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday Answered Prayer
City of Tucson
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
- Matthew 5:14-16
The topic of illumination has been at the forefront of our hearts and minds. What is the reality of allowing the light of Jesus to shine brightly through the activities of your life?
• Pray for the discipline necessary to have a clear voice concerning the Gospel. (Do you know how to share your faith?)
• Ask the Spirit for discernment in regard to living in the world (culture) but not of the world (culture). Romans 12:2
You have a unique story. God has worked in your life in very specific ways. Pause, reflect, and celebrate with prayers of thankfulness. You also have a very unique sphere of influence.
It is not an accident that...
You work where you work.
You live where you live.
You go to school where you go to school.
You work out where you work out.
You have coffee where you have coffee.
Your kids are friends with whom they are friends.
You volunteer where you volunteer.
You get the point.
• Ask God to give you the boldness to share your life and the story of redemption with those in which you interact.
• Ask the Spirit to develop within you a gift of hospitality. How are you inviting others (who don’t share your worldview) to be part of your life?
• Pray that God would allow you to lead a friend to Jesus this year. Pray for this consistently.
• Pray for integrity as you live the life of an exile (Jeremiah 29). Pray that your actions would build the bride of Christ.
Seeds Community Center
We have the ability to make a tangible difference in the lives of people who call the city of Tucson home!
Seeds' aim is to bring renewal and restoration to our city. Our stated purpose is to renew the mind through education, renew the heart through family development and community involvement, renew the senses through creative arts, renew the next generation through conservation and stewardship, and renew the soul through genuine exploration of the relevance of Jesus and the ability to connect with our Creator.
Pray specifically for each area of emphasis:
Serving Tucson
Equipping through education
Exploring creative arts
Developing stable family structures
Sustaining resources
• Pray for wisdom concerning each of the Pillars. How will we engage our city through Education, Creative Arts, Family Life, and Renewable Resources?
• Ask the Spirit for creativity and practicality in each of these four areas.
• Pray for an expansion of our influence, in order to share the message of Jesus.
What’s Next?
• Pray for the finalization of Seeds 501c(3) status. This is necessary for governmental and public legitimacy concerning non-profit organizations.
• Pray for the process of grant writing and the development of a solid Grant Proposal Portfolio. Seeds is going to need funding from private and public donors to accomplish its objectives.
• Ask God to provide skilled specialists for each step of the process required for starting a non-profit organization and the implementation of programs (lawyers, grant writers, administrators, counselors, public relations, etc.).
The following are those who are developing momentum for Seeds: Laura Adams, Regan Butler, Lauren Case, Andy Davis, Jennifer Griffith, Christy Harrison, Alex Mar, Collin O’Bryant, Tenney & Carol Smith.
• Pray for discernment, energy, balance of responsibilities, and an increased ability to network for each of those mentioned above.
• Pray for volunteers. Ask that God would move Second Mile from an acceptance of the vision and implementation of Seeds Community Center to a mindset and posture of ownership.
• Ask Jesus to increase the clarity of our vision. Pray that other city organizations and leaders would become aware of Seeds. Ask that we could build solid relationships of collaboration.
Davis-Monthan Air Force Base
As we pray for Tucson we must recognize the specific groupings of people. The culture of military personnel and support is one such grouping. How will we care for those in our community?
• Pray for protection for the military men and women from Davis-Monthan who are deployed around the world.
• Pray that Christian military members would have a strong witness in a culture that values vice.
• Pray for military families; divorce rates in the military are at record levels.
• Thank God for Second Mile's opportunity to minister to Tucson's military community, and pray that we could continue to draw in military members and support them.
