Second Mile Arts
Bezalel, son of Uri. Oholiab, son of Ahisamach. Not exactly huges names in the world of Hebrew or Old Testament studies, but these two are worth noticing. They were artists. Moses points them out in Exodus 35 as “master craftsmen and designers.” Their work? The temple of God. These men took the precious metals and stones, wood, thread, and linen given by God’s people and, along with others who were skilled and willing, set about the business of making a place of worship that honored God with aesthetics.
Now worship happens everywhere. We are past the Old Testament era of temples as the center of worship, but we are not past the time of skilled craftsmen and designers. Men and women may never have been as prolifically creative as we are at this point in history, and Second Mile Arts gives artists, craftsmen and designers of all kinds the freedom to approach Jesus and explore life, worship, and discipleship through whatever media they choose.
Second Mile Arts is an artistic community within the larger community of Second Mile. It is a group joining together to produce all kinds of art and creative projects for gatherings, art shows, and other venues and people. It is a place where we can combine abilities, develop ideas, and work together to amplify Jesus and honor God with creativity.
