Writing

Writing is, at its core, words scrawled on paper or pounded out on a keyboard—a simple thing with many purposes. It is personal. It is art. It is a record, a voice. We journal, we blog, we take notes, we craft poems and stories. Writing is a safe place for anyone with pen and paper to contemplate their days or remember a moment. It is an opportunity to raise concerns, broadcast notions, or share experiences with many others. Writing, at its core, lets us explore ideas, get past the surface, and dig for a fresh conclusion or the next question.

For spiritual people, the words that we scribble or type can return us to where we were, as individuals and as a community, and gain perspective on the journey God has for us. We can air concerns and ask questions to spark growth in the minds of both believers and those outside the church. Through writing, we connect mystery and truth to the everyday by finding the nouns and verbs, the descriptions and metaphors to help us discover the spiritual meaning in the events of our lives. For spiritual people, writing, at its core, is a method of worship.

Dove&Snake

Chad and Angel’s blog erases the lines separating church life, personal life, and family life to give an honest perspective on the adventure that is leading Second Mile.
